Presentations and Q&A about Bachelor/Master Theses

7 Alumni will very briefly present their thesis topics and give advice. During Q&A sessions, participants are welcome to ask questions.

5.00 pm - Introduction
5.15 pm

  • 1) Mathematics for Applied Research Topics (Gwenda R. Rode) - The joys and hardships of writing a Master thesis with external supervision.
  • 2) Imposter Syndrome is Completely Normal :) (Miriam G.C. Loth) - Of ups and downs of starting your bachelor thesis.

5.30 pm - Q&A Session 1
5.45 pm

  • 3) Expectations for a Bachelor’s Thesis (Anneke Haase) - Between standard results and original writing.
  • 4) Keep It Simple (Oskar J.E. Klempt) - How feedback can give you the best results.

6.00 pm - Q&A Session 2 + Break
6.30 pm

  • 5) How Mathematical Ideas Evolve (Max Eisold) - Undergraduate mathematics can be generalized into active research, using fractional differential equations.
  • 6) Diving into Research (Moritz P. Jahn) - On dead ends, the search for orientation, and the support your supervisor can give you.

6.45 pm - Q&A Session 3
7.00 pm

  • 7) Master’s Thesis as a Starting Point (Benjamin Rogoll) - From master’s thesis to PhD student.
